The University of Aveiro (UA), through its Department of Communication and Art, is offering a new microcredential titled “Fake News, Disinformation, and Dark Patterns in the Media”. This short course is designed for communication professionals, journalists, educators, digital media specialists, and tech experts who aim to deepen their understanding of misinformation and its impact in today's information ecosystem.

Combatting Disinformation Through Education

In an era of information overload, separating fact from fiction has become increasingly complex. The UA’s new microcredential addresses this challenge by equipping participants with both theoretical foundations and practical tools to identify, analyze, and counter disinformation and deceptive media strategies.

This program provides a multidisciplinary approach, combining communication theory, journalism ethics, media literacy, and digital technologies to foster critical thinking and responsible media practices.

Exclusive Insight from a Top Media Leader

One of the highlights of this training is the exclusive participation of Anselmo Crespo, journalist and director of CNN Portugal. Crespo will lead a session focused on the role of journalism in fighting fake news, providing real-world insights and professional guidance to course participants. His session promises to add a current and practical dimension to the academic content.
